Inspiration can come at the strangest of times, I was in a local toy shop, and became fascinated by the transformer toys, these brightly coloured boy's toys that with a click here and a click there turn from monster to car or what ever. I love this idea of one thing being several different items, so when I had to make some bags for a magazine I had at the back of my mind the transformer idea! (Blame it on a lack of tea!).

I have now made transformer bags for gardening (the inner part is lined with plastic for trips to the compost), holiday bags, this time the inner bag, forms a pillow for the beach (or wait at the airport) and the workshop bag which I am particularly pleased with, so pleased I have photographed it for this page.

This one has nice pockets on the outside for the trip to the workshop, rotary cutter, scissors, needle case, threads, all in place, the inner bag holds fabrics, lunch and the like.

When you get to the workshop the outer section unclips and sits next to your machine, holding all your goodies safe. No more "where are my scissors", are these your needles? Everything next to you and ready to work.

The larger bag sits on the floor holding fabric and anything else. I am dead pleased with these, so you never know, be ready for inspiration to strike.

If you would like a free pattern for a transformer bag, please just email me on
admin@ws-touchbase.com and I will send it straight across.

Of course transformation is very much in evidence at this time of year, from cold earth my garden is now erupting into colours. I love the brightness of daffodils, but in truth my heart belongs to tulips, the colours are so varied along with the shapes. I have frilly ones, doubles, fluted, parrots, I love them all. I feel that a quilt will come from these, no subtlety, just in your face, blinding colour, cor!

For those who have asked for an update, Pearl is now fully in control of my home and office, it's a wonder that 7 kilos can hold so much personality.

Lily our rescue staffi cross American bulldog, is totally devoted, they do make a strange pair.
