here for touching base... | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Chris
originally trained and worked as a rug weaver,
her work led to exhibitions, shows and judging as well as teaching,
she has taught a range of textile courses for over 29 years, from Patchwork
and Quilting through to embroidery and all manner of surface decoration. Perhaps
best known for her stumpwork, her City &
Guilds stumpwork course was the first to be offered via distance
learning. The level 3 course is still the only one offered via distance
learning. This has proved tremendously popular world wide, and Chris has
been instrumental in introducing this style of embroidery to Mexico
and South America through her work in Borda En Liston. |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A
keen de-bunker of terminology, Chris's approach
has been to make learning a fun, enjoyable
experience. As she say's
. "Too many people have been
emotionally scarred through school needlework lessons, I have no wish to
prolong the agony!" As
well as owning and teaching through WS Touchbase Chris is
also on the Embroiderers guild register of tutors and teaches
across the country. Chris
a born communicator has designed and written
for: Inspirations, Stitch, Classic
Stitches, Popular Patchwork, Patchwork & Quilting, Borda En Liston, Machine
Embroidery magazine. |

has started with a bang! Chris has been asked
to design and supply a range of whole cloth quilting
kits; these will be on sale in the National
Museums of Wales. This
is hoped to reach more people and give them the opportunity to experience
the joys of quilting, the kits; cushion, bags
and pincushions have patterns taken from Chris's collection of antique
quilts and the wadding is sheep's fleece, a direct reference to quilting
history. Expect
to see the kits from Easter onwards. |
